TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY
Our brains make us who we are. Unfortunately, our skulls are not crash helmets. Even simple accidents can cause brain injuries. You don’t need to have a skull fracture to suffer a serious brain injury. Closed head injuries are often subtle but nevertheless very real. A person’s judgment, memory, emotions, and critical thinking can be damaged forever. This can affect their ability to hold a job, live independently and even get along with others. Being able to prove impaired brain function due to a head injury sometimes depends on the testimony of family members, friends, and co-workers. We often look to neurologists and neuropsychologists as experts to help us prove these damages. Luckily, current technology can often help us prove brain damage. MRI and CT studies are often able to show dead brain tissue in the part of the brain that is associated with the problems our clients have. This helps us convince insurance carriers (and sometime juries) that the injury is real.
